Five-Element Acupuncture Gains Global Recognition in Xinhue

This month, Five-Element acupuncture made international headlines when Xinhua, China’s biggest news agency, published a feature on the tradition. It’s always a special moment when Five-Element Acupuncture — a tradition I have dedicated my career to — gains the recognition it deserves. Recently, my colleague and mentor Gerad Kite was featured in the Chinese press, highlighting his book, 'The Untapped Self'; and his pioneering work in bringing Five-Element Acupuncture into the mainstream.

Gerad has played a unique role in pushing this ancient practice into the spotlight. Over decades of clinical practice, writing, and teaching, he has been one of the leading voices showing how acupuncture can support modern life with timeless wisdom.

As someone who trained under Gerad and continues to practise at Kite Clinic, I see daily how this lineage of knowledge transforms lives. Gerad’s influence runs through my work, not only in the techniques I use, but in the way Five-Element Acupuncture invites us to look deeper: treating the root cause, not just the symptom.

For me, as someone practising Five-Element acupuncture every day in central London, it’s exciting to see this tradition step into the global spotlight. I’ve always believed in its ability to help people restore balance, improve wellbeing, and reconnect to themselves — but to have that recognised on an international stage feels significant. Gerad Kite: Bringing Five Element Acupuncture onto the Global Stage

The feature centres on Gerad Kite, my long-term colleague, mentor, and friend, whose work has been pivotal in bringing Five-Element acupuncture to wider audiences here in the UK. Gerad has dedicated decades to teaching, writing, and treating, and it’s brilliant to see his contribution recognised on such a global scale.

I’ve worked alongside Gerad for many years at Kite Clinic, and I’ve seen first-hand the impact of his teaching and vision. Much of my own practice has grown out of this shared environment, where the goal has always been the same: to make Five-Element acupuncture accessible, relevant, and truly life-changing for the patients we treat.

A Tradition Meeting Modern Needs

What’s striking is that although Five-Element acupuncture has ancient roots, its relevance feels more urgent than ever. In my practice — whether I’m treating fertility patients at Liberty London or at Wimpole Street; supporting people through stress, IVF, or recovery — the system is always adaptable, always personal, and always about balance.

The Xinhua article confirms what I see daily: that Five-Element acupuncture is not only alive and well, but thriving in today’s world. This is where Five-Element acupuncture comes into its own. It doesn’t just treat symptoms — it looks for the underlying imbalance, what we call the Causative Factor (CF), and works to restore harmony at the root. By treating the cause, the effects naturally follow: more energy, calmer emotions, regular cycles, improved fertility outcomes, and a deeper sense of resilience.

Why This Matters for Patients in London

While the article highlights the philosophy and history of Five-Element acupuncture, I see its impact in a very real, practical way with my own patients. Living and working in London can be intense — stressful jobs, long hours, the constant noise of city life. For many, this throws the system out of balance, showing up as:

Fertility challenges (both natural conception and alongside IVF).

Anxiety and stress that feels unmanageable.

Hormonal imbalance, PMS or menopause symptoms.

Migraines, fatigue, and digestive problems.

This global recognition is inspiring, but what matters most to me is the lived experience of my patients — the boost in energy, the calm in the middle of IVF treatment, the joy of a successful pregnancy, or simply the relief of feeling balanced again.

It’s wonderful to see Five-Element acupuncture celebrated on the international stage, but for me, its power is clearest in the quiet transformations that happen every day in my clinic.
