Johnny Childs

Five-Element Acupuncturist

I work with people navigating fertility, hormonal health, stress and emotional imbalance, using Five-Element acupuncture to restore balance across body, mind and spirit.

My practice is rooted in classical Five-Element acupuncture and shaped by years of clinical experience.

My work is attentive, unhurried, and grounded in listening carefully to both body and story before treatment begins.

Clinical Training, Lineage & Practice

My work is grounded in classical Five-Element acupuncture, a system that understands mental, physical and spiritual health as inseparable. I completed my formal training at The Acupuncture Academy, qualifying with a Professional Licentiate in Acupuncture, and am a registered member of the British Acupuncture Federation. Upon qualifying, I joined Kite Clinic, where I remain over a decade later, having worked very closely with Gerad Kite through years of shared clinical and teaching experience within the classical Five-Element tradition. Alongside my clinical work, I serve as Clinical Lead at Yellow Path Training, where I teach and mentor the next generation of practitioners.

My Approach to Treatment

Five-Element acupuncture looks beyond symptoms to understand the deeper patterns shaping health. My approach is attentive, unhurried, and individual; listening carefully to both body and story before treatment begins. In practice, this means each session begins with observation and listening. Rather than rushing toward a diagnosis, I take time to understand how symptoms have arisen and what the body may be communicating beneath them. Five-Element acupuncture recognises that emotional, physical, and spiritual aspects of health are inseparable. Treatment is therefore not about suppressing symptoms, but about supporting the conditions in which balance can return naturally. Patients often describe the work as calm, considered, and surprisingly deep. My intention is always to work with the body’s own intelligence, allowing systems to settle, regulate and re-emerge in a more resilient state. Whether someone is seeking support for fertility, hormonal balance, stress, or complex long-standing conditions, treatment is tailored carefully to the individual rather than the diagnosis. This approach allows space — for clarity, recovery, and meaningful change — without forcing outcomes or following rigid protocols.

My Path to Acupuncture

Before training as an acupuncturist, I spent years immersed in physical discipline and precision, first as a martial artist and later as a professional stuntman. Those experiences shaped my understanding of resilience, recovery, and the close relationship between physical and emotional health. As my career evolved, I became increasingly drawn to the quieter systems that sustain long-term health — emotional regulation, nervous system balance, and the body’s capacity to heal and repair. This shift ultimately led me toward acupuncture as a clinical practice.

Fertility, IVF & Support

Fertility support forms a central part of my clinical practice. I work closely with leading fertility clinics, supporting patients through natural conception, IVF, egg freezing, miscarriage recovery, and longer fertility journeys. My role is not to replace medical fertility care, but to support the body and nervous system during what is often one of the most emotionally and physically demanding periods of a person’s life. Treatment is carefully adapted as circumstances change, with a focus on hormonal regulation, emotional resilience, and recovery.

Teaching & Mentorship

Teaching has been part of my life since my early days in the dojo, and it remains central to my work today. Alongside my clinical practice, I mentor and teach the next generation of Five-Element acupuncturists, serving as Clinical Lead at Yellow Path Training. Supervising students in clinic keeps me deeply connected to the principles of the tradition — clarity of diagnosis, presence with the patient, and respect for the wider context of their lives. It also continually refines my ability to explain complex ideas simply and clearly.
