ABOUT JOHNNY CHILDS
From Martial Artist to Acupuncturist and Teacher
For over 15 years, martial arts shaped my life. I trained intensively, earning a 3rd Dan black belt in karate and competing at European level. Martial arts taught me discipline, respect, and the importance of balance — not just in movement, but in life.
My Sensei and I shared a deep bond. His sudden passing was a profound shock, but also a turning point. In the aftermath, I was chosen along with a small selection of other young students to step up and teach at what was then the largest karate club in Wales. Thrown in at the deep end, I learned how to guide others, how to hold responsibility, and how to find strength in vulnerability. That early experience of teaching and supporting others would later become a thread running through everything I do.
The discipline of stunts
From there, I pursued a career as a professional stuntman. It was an extraordinary world that demanded absolute focus, courage, and an intimate understanding of the body. Every movement had to be precise; every risk carefully calculated. I learned first-hand how much resilience the body is capable of — and also how quickly it can be thrown out of balance.
Those years left me fascinated by the ways we adapt, recover, and heal. I began to see that physical strength and emotional wellbeing are inseparable, and that true resilience depends on harmony across body, mind, and spirit.

JOHNNY CHILDS' CAREER
Discovering Five-Element Acupuncture
My introduction to Five-Element Acupuncture came through Gerad Kite, one of the most respected figures in the field. At the time I wasn’t looking for a new career — but after experiencing treatment with him, I felt something profound lift, as though I had returned to myself. It was a turning point.
Gerad encouraged me to train, telling me he believed I would make a great practitioner. I enrolled at The Acupuncture Academy to undertake formal training, but throughout those years I had him in the wings — guiding, challenging, and mentoring me. It became an unofficial apprenticeship, one that shaped my practice at the deepest level.
As soon as I qualified, I went straight to Kite Clinic, working first-hand with Gerad. In fact, my journey as his close student was what inspired him to reopen his teaching school — making me, in effect, his original apprentice. From the very beginning I was thrown into the deep end, teaching and mentoring almost as soon as I began practising myself. That immersion not only accelerated my development, it gave me a sense of responsibility to uphold and pass on the highest standards of this tradition.
That close relationship continues today, as I work alongside Gerad at Kite Clinic — carrying forward his lineage while shaping the future of Five-Element Acupuncture for the next generation.
Teacher and mentor
Teaching has been part of my life since those early days in the dojo, and it remains central today. Alongside clinical practice, I mentor and teach the next generation of acupuncturists, serving as a Clinical Lead at Yellow Path Training (formerly LIFEA). Sharing knowledge keeps me rooted in the philosophy of the tradition while allowing me to pass on the discipline, compassion, and perspective that have shaped my own journey.
Patients often say they value not just the treatment itself, but also the clarity and confidence that come from being with someone who has walked a long path — from martial arts and stunts to close apprenticeship under Gerad Kite, and now to teaching and mentoring others.
Today
I practise from Kite Clinic on Wimpole Street where I continue to work first-hand with Gerad Kite, and at Liberty London in collaboration with leading fertility specialists such as The Evewell.
Whether supporting someone through IVF, helping a patient find relief from stress, or guiding students in the principles of Five-Element Acupuncture, my aim is the same: to create space for balance, resilience, and transformation.

FIVE ELEMENT ACUPUNCTURE
Five-Element Acupuncture originated in China well over 2000 years ago, and has been passed down from Master to Student both through the study of texts and oral teaching. An unbroken lineage has maintained the transmission of an astounding body of knowledge of health, illness and the human condition.
CONDITIONS SUPPORTED BY ACUPUNCTURE
I treat conditions ranging from anxiety and migraines to hormonal balance and sleep. Diagnosis involves looking at a patient’s constitutional and emotional make-up; their strengths and weaknesses. The actual treatment plan will then be based around each individual’s needs. The treatment journey takes the patient from pathology to good health and through to accessing their full potential.
FERTILITY & ACUPUNCTURE
For over a decade, Johnny has been an integral part of the Kite Clinic on Wimpole Street, London, working closely with renowned master Gerad Kite. During this time, Johnny has gained invaluable insight and experience, particularly in the field of fertility. While he treats a wide range of conditions, he is especially passionate about supporting patients with fertility challenges. Whether you are facing infertility, women's health issues, or seeking holistic support through IVF, Johnny’s tailored approach to fertility acupuncture is designed to restore balance and optimise reproductive health. In addition to his hands-on experience, Johnny also studied at The Acupuncture Academy, further deepening his understanding of the practice.
